Regardless of how your heart got broken, or who broke your heart, your spouse, your children, your boyfriend or girlfriend, your co-workers, your church members, it does not matter who. What matters is what you do next.

Explore the possibilities of taking yourself and your broken heart on a short vacation. Tell yourself that you need this time away in order to process and help mend your broken heart, in order to avoid heart disease, high blood pressure or even weight gain.

Perhaps, depending on how your heart got broken, it may be a serious effort just to get up in the mornings, dress and head for work. Again, how you deal with the broken heart is very important. You only have one heart and when it’s broken, you may want to step back and take a moment to reflect.

Sit down at your computer, and start surfing for a mini-vacation, or call your travel agent. If you don’t have a budget set aside for a quick get-a-way, then plan on driving to a resort area, mid-week, and take advantage of Sunday through Thursday rates. (You can purchase food at the local grocery store to cut down on the cost of meals)

Purchase a journal; it is time to start writing. Plan on getting to the bottom of why your heart was broken and what what part you played in the situation, as well as what are your future plans.

Be prepared to accept responsibility for your broken heart. Write out in your journal what you learned from the situation. Also be prepared to be totally honest with yourself. This will probably make you cry, but, it will also enable you to experience empowerment.

Pray or meditate upon your broken heart. A broken heart is nothing to ignore. If you stuff (ignore) your feelings, you may pick up 30 to 40 pounds in the coming months, which could lead to a weakening of your heart from carrying extra weight. Or other health issues may arise.

Regardless, if you take a 3 day cruise, check into a ski resort or sit by the Pacific ocean in Hawaii, you owe it to yourself to help mend your broken heart. Your greatest love has to be to yourself, for you cannot give to others, that which you have not given to yourself.
